My heart is instructed to speak daily the Apostle Paul’s prayer for his beloved Church of the Thessalonians through Advent 2017— on behalf of my children and my children’s children. Will you join me? We cannot fathom the benefit of such solidarity in prayer to Almighty God for a faith legacy in our ensuing generations. May it be a prayer heard ‘round the world!
Make this Advent Season a powerful Pray It Forward season. An do so with confidence in the Sure Word of God. …so is the word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
Meanwhile, I pray for YOU this Advent season— to be fully engaged with the ONE who has been sent and to fully hope in the ONE who will come once more!
A Faith Legacy Advent Prayer
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Perhaps, it is the picture emblazoned in my mind of the the toddler immigrant who washed ashore on a Turkish beach. Perhaps, it is the disregard for the value of life on the Oregon college campus. Perhaps, it is the image of the twenty-five Russian children who met their earthly end in the Sinai Desert. Perhaps, it is the thought of nine year old Tyshawn Lee who was murdered by a Chicago gang or the silent six year old, Jeremy Mardis, who was riddled with police bullets while riding shotgun with his dad. Whatever, the PERHAPS, I shout to the Lord, Suffer Not the Children. And what is more, I exhort you to shout with me. Let us rise from our slumber and voice our prayer of outrage. Let us prevail upon God’s grace and mercy. Let us bypass cultural and societal fixes and surpass all humanitarian causes and efforts. The Bible says, Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always (1 Chronicles 16:11). Indeed, let us wholeheartedly seek the Lord on behalf of our young. He is our only Hope! O Sovereign and compassionate God, SufferNottheChildren!
As a wife, mother, grandmother and woman of faith, I recently compiled a list entitled 12 Things I Desire for our Children. These 12 Things…are the essence of Faith Feedings…12 principles to nurture you child’s spiritual development. The process of identifying these 12 things and committing them to writing has brought clarity to my passion for securing the conscience of the next generation for faith in God. They have become my prayer to our Heavenly Father for the sake a heritage of faith in our families.
It is in my heart to compile a new list. It will be called: 12 ConcernsMothershavefortheirChildren. I need your help. What concerns you regarding your children matters to me and it matters to God. So tell me…What concerns cross your mind as you tuck your children into bed or put them on the school bus? What are you thinking as they enter college, the military, or the work force? From what worldly ills do you wish to shield them? What frames your SufferNottheChildren prayer? Regrettably, words like danger, disease, terror, bullying, addiction, eating disorders, trafficking, and immorality are plaguing the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of our families. Would you join me in clarifying our deepest concerns for our children before the Lord so that with one heart and mind we can seek God’s grace and mercy on behalf of the young in our midst. O Faithful and Merciful God—SufferNottheChildren!

Who or what is your Go To? Is it a cup of coffee or a call to a friend…a chocolate bar or a shopping spree? Where do you find comfort or solace in the midst of the intensity of daily living. Where do you unwind? Where do you seek refreshment and courage for your next step?
As you ponder these Go To questions consider this: God wants to be your Go To. Every aspect of God’s character; every letter of His Word; every longing of His heart bids you to rush to His side. Listen anew to Jesus’ words… Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Sounds to me like a cup of God is all we need!
Near the end of Jesus’ life on earth. Jesus expressed regret to the very people He came to save: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem…how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing (Matthew 23:37). Make God your Go To today. Do so for the sake of your eternal future and your present well being. Jesus longs to gather you and your beloved to Himself. Be gathered, dear one. No regrets here!
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17)
OPP (opportunity for action): Our culture is gathering our children through social media. Give them an alternative source of acceptance. Be diligent in making sure that God’s Friend Request is all they need. #Jeremiah 33:3Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Be a God is a Go To voice in your home.
